Jarek Kurnitski

Mr. Jarek Kurnitski is a professor at Tallinn University of Technology and Aalto University in Finland and Vice President of REHVA (Federation of European Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning Associations). Since April 2012 Jarek leads neary zero energy building (nZEB) research group in Tallinn University of Technology. Before joining Tallinn University of Technology Jarek worked in Finland Innovation Fund SITRA, where he carried out the Energy programme in 2009 – 2012. Jarek is one of the leading scientists in Europe on the field of energy efficiency in buildings and indoor climate and has been acknowledged with REHVA and SCANVAC science awards. His publications comprise more than 300 scientific and applicable editions. Jarek is the main author of the elaboration of the energy efficiency minimal requirements and calculation methodology in Finland and Estonia. Currently he is conducting a nZEB workgroup in REHVA that is elaborating technical basis for implementing the nearly zero energy requirements in the buildings energy efficiency directive on the national level.
